If you thought you were safe from unwanted applications getting into your system, like SuperFish, you might want to think again. It was found recently that uTorrent‘s latest update, version 3.4.2, had a bitcoin miner, Epic Scale, as one of its bundled applications. Once installed, it can use your computer as a part of a bitcoin farm to generate revenues for third parties. While it doesn’t hijack your HTTPS connection, it does take up CPU cycles, which will slow your computer down and cause it to burn more power.

Fortunately, the application does not install silently as confirmed by The Verge. However, if you carelessly accepted and installed the application, it can be very difficult to remove. If you think you have Epic Scale installed in your system, check out this video on how to remove it.
